How to Build a Simple Skin Routine
A calm order of operations — cleanse, prep, treat, comfort — without turning your shelf into a laboratory.
Start with fewer steps than you think
A useful routine is one you will actually keep. For most days, that looks like cleanse, a watery prep step if you like one, one treatment, and a moisturizer. Lips count.
Maison Pretty.com is not a clinic. If your skin is reactive, uncomfortable, or changing in a way that worries you, speak with a qualified professional. The notes below are editorial, not medical advice.
A gentle order
Cleanse to remove the day. If you wear makeup or sunscreen, an oil cleanser can be a first pass, followed by a water-based cleanser.
A toner or pad can follow if you enjoy that slip of hydration. Then a serum or ampoule, then cream. Masks are extras — not nightly obligations.
How to choose from the edit
Pick one product per job. If you already love a cream, you do not need three. If you want a place to start, Everyday Skin on our Routines page lays out a catalog sequence you can shop as a set or a single step.
Read the packaging. Patch-test anything new. Give a product time before you decide it is not for you — and stop if it does not feel right.
